Friday Ramblings

Happy Friday! Lots of random things for you today...
  • The Royal Wedding! I didn't wake up for it, but I did catch a little bit of it this morning and have been stalking pictures all day. I absolutely adored Kate's dress. It was exactly what I thought she'd wear, and it did look pretty similar to the sketch I posted a couple days ago! She is just stunning and they look so in love!
  • The tornadoes. My heart is aching for the people who were affected on Wednesday night. Atlanta was lucky enough to miss the big damage, but it's so sad to see friends and neighbors (in Georgia and Alabama) going through this horrific event. Doug and I plan on sending a box of clothes and other goods to Tuscaloosa this weekend...has anyone done this yet and know where the best place is to send items?
  • The Office. I am going to miss Michael Scott so much! I cried all throughout the episode last night, and I just can't imagine how they will ever fill his shoes!
  • The Monster. Yes, we had a monster in our apartment last night. I'm a little hesistant to put a picture of it on here because, honestly, it absolutely freaks me out just to even look at a picture. But to get the full effect of my terror, I think it's necessary.
(I apologize if this is scaring the bejeezus out of you....I have to squint when I'm looking at it, then it's not quite as bad. And this is not a picture of the one visiting us...Doug found a look-a-like online)

This little gigantic creature was sitting in our bathtub oh, about 20 minutes after I took a bubble bath. He was probably 3" long and 2" wide. I screamed my head off, ran out of the room, then Doug came to kill it. Doug said it hissed at him. It was that big and scary. Now, I am terrified to walk into our bathroom just in case his brother is in there looking to get revenge. If it ever happens again, we're moving.

On that happy note, I hope you all have a lovely weekend! :)

Royal Wedding

I'm linking up with Jamie for What I'm Loving Wednesday!

So, as I have previously mentioned several times, I am one of the many women who finds herself completely obsessed with the Royal Wedding. I am a sucker for fairy tales and happy endings, and this love affair is definitely one in my book. It doesn't hurt that Kate is also gorgeous and has impeccable style. I. Am. Obsessed.

And my favorite...

Doug, however, is far from it and is annoyed with my appreciation for this event. He makes the argument that the Royal Family has no real meaning or purpose....it's tradition, my dear! Doug is suffering through this week as I make him watch TLC's Royal Wedding Week...a small sacrifice if you compare it to football season (although I really can't complain...I love football, too). He does seem to find comfort in the fact that this gives him a good excuse to speak with a British accent all week (in which I gladly join....everything sounds fancier with a British accent).

Did any of y'all catch the William and Kate movie on Lifetime? I was a little disappointed with the actress who played Kate...I picture her in my head to be a little more poised and refined (said in a British accent), but overall I enjoyed watching their love story. Though I really wonder how much is fact and how much is fiction.

I haven't decided if I will be waking up early to watch it on Friday, since I could DVR it and watch it that night after work. I require a ridiculous amount of sleep each night, so I think anyone who came in contact with me on Friday would suffer if I did wake up early for it. I do, however, want to eat scones and drink tea (and I don't even like tea) while I'm watching it....all the more fancy!

The thing I'm excited most about seeing is Kate's dress. I love anything weddings, but the dress is always my favorite to check out. I think she will keep it classic and elegant, with a full skirt. I really like the top of this one...I'm a sucker for lace.

One of my other favorite parts of a wedding is the cake. I imagine their cake to look something like this, but 5 times bigger of course.

So are y'all as excited as I am? What do you think Kate's dress will look like? Are you waking up early to watch it?

Cheers!

Praise the One

I know I'm a couple days late, but Happy Easter! I have been feeling a disconnect to God lately, and this weekend was exactly what I needed to get me going again. This song was stuck in my head all weekend,

"Oh Praise the One
Who paid my debts
And raised this life
Up from the dead"

Easter is just so....moving to me. I found myself getting choked up during the weekend as I was thinking about the real reason for Easter. My hope is that I will continue to feel like this throughout the year; that I don't need this one day a year to remind me how powerful the sacrifices He made are.

Anywho, I'll tell you about the rest of our weekend! Friday, we went to Atlantic Station in Atlanta for dinner and a movie! Water for Elephants was AMAZING. I really couldn't have been happier with it. For the most part, it stayed true to the book, and the little things that they changed probably made for a better movie anyways. I love Reese, and I thought Robert Pattinson was great in it as well. He is definitely growing on me :) I used to think he was not attractive in the least (and I'm a huge Twilight fan...I know) but he had a different look in this movie that I definitely preferred over his usual spiffy 'do. All in all, I loved the movie and can't wait to buy it when it comes out!

On Saturday, we had a lazy afternoon then headed out to SHOP! I just have to tell y'all about the amazing deal we got at New York and Company. Their stuff was already on sale (B1G1 1/2 off, 30% off, etc.) so my total for 14 items was $311. Then I had my 50% off coupon they emailed me that morning. Then I opened up a NY&Co credit card (I had been waiting til the next time I made a large purchase) so that took another 20% off. I think the purchase was regularly over $400, and I paid $128!! It made me want to go buy more :) I also got a few things at H&M and Target. Now all I need are some new shoes to complete my wardrobe :)

On Sunday we went to early church so we could make it to lunch with my family at the club I used to work at. It's always fun to go back and see all my old friends there.

Holy paleness...I didn't know it was this bad!
(One of my new dresses from Target! On clearance for $12!)

After we hung out for a bit, we headed over to spend some time with Doug's family. We also decided it was time to see if Maisy liked swimming. The jury's still out on that one.

She looks so pitiful in the first one! She was a sweet girl though and was fine as long as her daddy was holding her!

That night, we all went to Easter Feaster at Chili's. They were offering 2 margaritas, an appetizer, 2 entrees, and a dessert for $35, and we, of course, had to participate. We're actually still eating leftovers, so I'd say it was a pretty good deal!

I'll be back tomorrow with my latest obsession (that is driving Doug crazy).....the Royal Wedding!

WILW

I'm loving that I just bought our tickets to go see Water for Elephants on Friday! I'm also loving that I got the Living Social deal for it a while back, only paying $10 for $25 tickets!

I'm loving that the Royal Wedding is next week! I have a mild extreme obsession with all things Royal Wedding, and I cannot wait to see Kate's dress! She is just stunning and so classy!

I'm loving that this weekend is Easter, and we are going home to spend time with our families!

I'm loving that on my long to-do list, one of the items is to get a pedicure. Sometimes a girl just needs a little pampering!

I'm loving this face

and this face

oh, and this face, too :)
(the one on the right)

And....I'm loving THIS. Enough said.

On the other hand, I'm NOT loving that Brad and Emily already broke up! What the heck! I can't say that I'm surprised though...that ATFR was pretty tense!

We're over half way through the week!! Wahoo!

Doggy Bling

I'm linking up with CMae for Tail Wagging Tuesday!

This week's topic is Bling!

I just had to do this post because of what I received in the mail today...

Maisy's tag has been driving us crazy, especially in the mornings, because it is SO loud when she scratches her neck. Last week, I found something that would solve this problem!

It's called a dog tag silencer (genius!)

I found one for just over $1 at Arcata Pet and also ordered a new tag, since I had trouble finding the right color/size before. I paid less for the new tag (engraved), the silencer, and shipping than what the tag we bought from Petsmart cost. And it arrived 3 days after I bought it!
(it's really all pink, the light is just washing it out)
I never make the effort to do online reviews, but I was so impressed with this company's customer service that I filled one out. And now I just want to tell you all about them! They personally write you an email when your order ships (my shipped within 2 hours of placing the order). Their prices can't be beat, either. I'm one happy customer :)

So, if you need pet supplies...check them out!

(I did not get paid to do this...I was just really that impressed!)

Okay, plugging done.

The rest of Maisy's daily attire is her fashionable collar that Mom and I searched for everywhere. Where did we end up finding it? Walmart, of course, for $5! Can't beat that!

Her other favorite ensembles include her pink sweater from Sunday's race, and this new snazzy jersey that will be coming in just in time for Bark in the Park!

Do y'all dress your pets up in ridiculous outfits? I put Pepper in a few when he was a kitten, but now he just won't have it. Luckily, Maisy loves playing dressing up! :)

Weekend Recap

Another busy weekend for the books! Even though we are doing fun things, I'm so looking forward to a weekend where we have absolutely nothing to do! This girl needs some rest!

On Saturday, we went to Athens for G-Day, the UGA scrimmage game. It always gets us pumped up for football in the fall! And we just love going back to our alma mater :)

After the game, Doug had the brilliant idea of eating lunch at the dining hall. He was on the meal plan all four years (for a good reason). It is awesome food and they offer a huge variety of delicious items. One of my favorite things in the world is ECV's Chicken Philly (paired with tater tots and chocolate chip cookies :)

We ran errands the rest of the day and prepared for our 5k the next morning in Athens. Since it was for breast cancer research, everyone was encouraged to wear pink. Doug and I had our outfits all picked out, and we decided Maisy should also dress for the occasion :)

We found this pink sweater at Petsmart for $5! I was SO EXCITED to see if she would wear it. Turns out, she loved it! Maisy felt so pretty in her snazzy outfit and pranced around for everyone to see how cute she is :)

It was definitely a little snug on her and it ended up ripping by the end of the race, but nothing that a little needle and thread (and probably some extra fabric) can't fix for next season!

My father-in-law won 3rd in his group, my mother-in-law won 1st, and Doug won 2nd! So proud of them! Of course, I didn't win anything...I was just happy to survive it!

I probably haven't ran in 2 years (since my last 5k that I was forced to do did). I ran more of the race than I expected to, since Maisy realllllly wanted to run. And I also ran a lot faster than I wanted to, since she was pulling me. And now, I can. not. move. Every muscle in my lower half is killing me! For some reason that Doug still can't figure out, the muscle that's hurting me the most is the muscle right next to my shin bone. Any idea why that is!? I've found that if I pick my foot straight up instead of toe-up first, it doesn't hurt nearly as bad. However, that also makes me look like a shuffling 90 year old. I'm getting around real slow today!

This is how Maisy and I felt for the rest of the day.

Hope y'all had a great weekend!

Wardrobe Change!

One of Doug's birthday presents to me was a shopping spree for work clothes! Once warm weather rolled around, I found that I barely have any spring/summer clothes appropriate for work. I am a big fan of plain colored tees and that just won't cut it at the office, so sweet Doug offered to fix this problem.

We probably won't be able to go until next Saturday, but the plan is to visit H&M and New York and Company (my all-time favorite store). I have never really liked Forever 21 (don't hate me...I know it's everyone's favorite) but I'm considering giving it another try since the pricetags are oh so low.

I plan on getting cute tops and lots and lots of skirts and dresses. Here are some things I've been eyeing:

TOPS

Rose and Ruffle Blouse
Floral & Ruffle Detail Mesh Wrap Top
The Madison Short-Sleeve Ruffle Front Shirt
Banded Waist Button-Front Shirt
This whole outfit. Yes, please.
Sleeveless Chiffon Rosette Top
Bodyshaper Cami with Beaded Petal Embellishment
Chiffon Ruffle Draped Cap Sleeve Tee
Ruffle Shell
all tops via NY&Co
SKIRTS

Chic & Flirty Tiered Short Skirt
Not for work...just because it's cute and comfy- win win!
Streetwear Linen Skirt
Chino Solid Ruffle Skirt

DRESSES
Prettiest Pink Scoop Neck Sleeveless Sheath
(This is so Legally Blonde...I love it!)

Sleeveless Ponte Knit Dress
Ruffle Wrap Print Dress

As you can see, I have a pretty conservative style, and I don't typically buy things that I won't be able to wear in 3 years. I'm more of a 'simple gal' (my mom cracks up everytime I say this...I still don't know why! :) I love girly things...frills, ruffles, flowers, embellishments. Luckily, NY&Co has that on just about all of their clothing right now!

What trends are y'all loving this spring?
