So today kind of sucked. I woke up to Maisy throwing up. Poor thing hasn't thrown up since we moved here, so I was pretty worried about her all day (She is feeling much better now!) I went to work, where I got a call from my doctor. I had an ultrasound done on Monday to make sure everything was okay with my birth control, and she gave me news I was not expecting- there is a cyst on my ovary.
Apparently it is a blood-filled cyst, which is relatively common, but could also mean that I have endometriosis. Of course, I started googling it and that led to me being really freaked out. Infertility has always been my biggest fear. Being a mom is what I've always dreamt of, and the possibility of having problems with that honestly just terrifies me. And apparently endometriosis is linked with infertility. The main symptom of endometriosis is pelvic pain, and I've always had terrible cramps that have recently been more frequent. So that worries me, too.
Clearly, I don't know much about it other than what Google has told me, so that's why I'm writing this. I'm hoping someone reading this can tell me more about it, whether they have it or know someone who does. I go back for another ultrasound in 6 weeks, so I won't really know any more until they see if the cyst is gone.
I really appreciate any info y'all can give me. I'm trying to be optimistic and keep calm for the next 6 weeks. Easier said than done, I guess!

I don't have any info or advice but I just wanted to let you know I'm praying for you, sweet girl!
I'm so sorry to hear about this Julie! I have PCOS and although it didn't bother me when I was diagnosed as a teen, it's starting to become a decent concern, especially because Peter and I want to start a family sometime soon. I hope that everything works out, and I will be praying my little heart out for you!
Hang in there! I don't know much, but I do know that these types of things are so common among women and I know it will all get taken care of:) I am not sure if you are trying to conceive, but it's been a struggle for myself and my husband, so I can kind of relate. I'm saying a little prayer for you! :)
Hey lady, I unfortunately don't know anything about this, but I'm thinking about you. I know things will turn out just fine!
That's exactly how I found my endometriosis... From a cyst. I had a laparoscopy done a few months later and they removed some of the endo. I obviously haven't tried to have to have kids yet, so I'm not sure how it'll effect me that way. But my pain is better (controlled with bc!) and the doc told me since they caught it when I was pretty young (22)... It probably wouldnt effect my fertility. The earlier you catch it and treat with bc, the better your chances of conceiving. (from what my doc told me) my sister is 31 and found out she has endo after 1.5 yrs of trying to conceive, but they started some mild fertility drugs and she's preggo now :) I think rveryone's different and the disease is still fairly evasive. I would just say to chat with your doc but trust that Jesus knows your heart and mommy desires... He's not a mean God and is faithful to provide :)
That was long... But I'm praying for you!!! The unknown can be so scaryn:(
Oh friend...I'm sorry. Unfortunately I don't know anything about that. But, I am saying prayers for you! Hang in there!
Hey there! So sorry to hear. It's always scary if a report is anything less than perfect. My sister in law had really bad endo & even had surgery before she married my brother to remove the fibers b/c it was so painful. She was told that she might not be able to get pregnant- even if she was going to try that she needed to do fertility treatments... A year after she married my brother she said they just prayed and prayed about it, not wanting to do treatments but praying it was the Lord's will that they have a baby. She is now expecting in May & the doctor said the endo isn't even a problem anymore! Medical issues are scary. But we have a big God my friend!
Well first try not to worry too much until you find out whether you have endometriosis or not. But even if you did, my friend had it pretty bad, but was determined to have kids. So she had the surgery where they remove it. It grows back within 6 months, but she was able to get pregnant naturally after her surgery. So it's tougher with it, but not impossible to get pregnant =)

I'm so very sorry, Julie. This post broke my heart. I don't blame you one bit for being worried and wanting as much information as possible!
I know a few people with PCOS, but the great news is - you CAN still get pregnant! I know there's no way of knowing right now, and I really can't even explain why, but I have a feeling it will all work out for you and Doug. It always seems to work out for people who deserve it the most...and I can't think of any people more deserving of a beautiful family than you!!
That doesn't sound fun! I don't know anything about cysts or the like but I'm sending you lots of healing thoughts!
One of my best friends here in Nashville had endo & has 2 beautiful kids:) Praying the results come back better than expected!
I found out that I had mild endometriosis about 6 years ago and had a laproscopy done. I had terrible cramps and pain...that's how I found out about it. I had to get special shots once a month that put me into a medically induced menopause (yuck) for 4 months. I have had no problems since then and my OB/GYN thinks that I'll be ok for pregnancy. Praying for you! It's not always as bad as what you read on the internet!
Oh Julie, I'm so sorry. Life is so scary sometimes, but the only way to get by is to trust in the Lord. I know that he knows the desires of your heart and will give you children one day. I'll be praying for you!! Text me if you need to chat!
I don't have any words of wisdom on the subject, but I'll definitely be praying for you.
I have never experienced anything like this, but do know a lot on the topic. I have always worried about infertility. Never had any reason to worry or think that just like you becoming a mother has always been a dream of mine. I always speak to my doctor and discuss everything with her. As far as my understanding goes, most cysts do go away on their own. Also birth control does help with endometriosis. I also know that in a majority of cases that the chances of infertility with endometriosis are slim now because there are so many ways to treat it. So I wouldn't worry! You seem very on top of your health and I'm that everything will be just fine!
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!
i dont have any advice but i totally relate to your fears - it's one of my too. please know i'll be praying for you friend!!
oh julie.. I would be so scared if I were you but all those wonderful ladies above me are right -- we have a BIG God and he does not give us a spirit of fear!! Trust in Him, find your rest in Him, and know he will take care of you -- his precious daughter. Love you :)
I am going through the exact same thing! Except I am not on birth control anymore! My hubby and I have been trying for a baby for about 10 months now! (Not that long but still it seems forever!) I have always had horrible pelvic pain but it got much worse when I stopped my bc.
In Jan 2010 I experianced the worse pain in my life! The doctors confirmed that I had a ruptured ovarian cyst.
In Oct of this past year the problems I was having had become enough for me to start to worry about. So I scheduled an appt to see my doc.
I had to have 2 ultrasounds, which confirmed more cysts. But he is also about 100% sure I have Endometriosis. I know what it is due to a couple of friends who have had it! But he assured me that even if I have it, it DOESN'T mean that I can't have children!
I go in tomorrow morning to have surgery to determine if it is in fact endo!
God is amazing! And I beleive that He will heal me if I do have it! I will be praying for you! Sometimes it helps to talk to someone who is going through the same thing! Or who has gone through it!
Hey Julie! Actually, I don't know if you remember the cysts I had in high school? They are the reason that I started taking birth control, I was told that birth control would regulate my cysts so that they wouldn't be an issue anymore so I would ask your doctor about that? Also, my mom has endometriosis and while it CAN result in infertility I don't think the result is immediate and I think it can be managed at least until you have children. My mom was diagnosed with it at around 17 or 18, went on birth control to deal with it and had my sister at 32 years old. My understanding (via my mom) is that it is like a webbing in your female parts, which is why it can lead to infertility. Obviously you'll know more in a few weeks, but I don't think you need to freak out between now and then. If my mom could wait so long to have children 25 years ago, I imagine there are many more ways to deal with it today. I will be praying for you, but in the mean time, try not to stress out too much because this doesn't mean you can't have children. You'll be a wonderful mother!!!
